Definition of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an assembly of 17 interconnected goals set by the United Nations in 2015 to address pressing environmental, social, and economic concerns within the next 15 years. The goal set out in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals initiative is to ensure balanced and environment-friendly economic and population growth, social justice, and decreasing environmental pollution. They include for instance; affordable and clean energy (SDG 7), climate action (SDG 13), and responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), which are directly linked to carbon accounting practices.
